Get Involved - Support A Horse

What does it cost to run a horse rescue? Here are some of our costs that hit us every month:

• One bale of hay costs $25.00 - we go through one bale of hay per day/thirty bales a month
  
• Foot care is $70.00 per horse per month. All of our horses are barefoot and our farrier is an outstanding barefoot trimmer
• Grain is $35.00 per bag and lasts us about a month
• Just the basics, one horse costs $350.00 per month for just feed. We have four retirees in our care that costs us $1400.00 per month.

With the current drought situation in California, our hay prices are anticipated to skyrocket this year and we have no grass in our pastures - EVERY bit helps!!!!

You can sponsor one or more of our horses monthly and receive updates, photos and even visit your sponsored horse on the weekends!

Volunteer!

We are always looking for a strong community of  to assist us with the day to day activities of the organization. Some of our volunteers assist us with:
- Horse Handling and Grooming
- Rehabilitation Activities
- Barn Maintenance
- Painting and Property Maintenance
- Administrative Activities
- Fundraising

​The Brego Foundation offers volunteer training on an as needed basis to train our new volunteers on our methods of working with the horses, the principles of our work and safety guidelines. If you are interested in volunteering with us, please fill out the form on our Contact Us Page.
